He probably thought she hadn’t noticed.
Unfortunately, subtlety had never been one of Harry Potter’s stronger points.
Oh, he enjoyed her company well enough and he studied harder than ever under her tutelage, but they both seemed to realize that a vital part of their group was missing.
She’d tried talking to Ron, tried to explain, logically, that Harry couldn’t have put his name in the goblet, wouldn’t have risked his friendship to gain something he already had and didn’t want-fame.
So Ron griped and Harry feigned disinterest, but Hermione was sure they’d come to their senses soon enough.
