Bigger and brighter things

New Year's Resolutions are kind of the bane of my existence. Looking back at what I've previously resolved, I see so much that I've not done. I resolved three years ago to finish the cross-stitch for my sister's wedding. (It is now going on seven years late!) I have resolved, every year since I went, to make a scrapbook of my time in Australia. I ( Read more... )

The one little bit of Green Lantern that I did like, though, was that Carol figured out who he was within 3 seconds of seeing him. Which makes her smarter than Lois.

It's a fair point. It doesn't save the movie, but it's something.

I actually thought Green Lantern was okay. Not great by any means, but certainly a far sight better than truely excreable Daredevil or the Ang Lee Hulk. I suspect that my fanboying over all of the comic elements the put in may have helped this opinion, of course.

See, it may have been the slight amount of booze we had, but there was no logical progression in that movie; everyone's motivations were either nebulous or not credible based on what little was known about them; and the villain made no sense. If these are things that can be remedied by comic lore/elements, I'd be very much surprised.

I watched a paltry 176 movies for the first time, and I didn't even clear 20 books this year.

Meanwhile, I read 100 books, and watched only about 10 movies!

I'm so glad I didn't bother with Green Lantern.

See, I'd much rather do it your way, but I'm way more susceptible to watching movies than actually investing in a book, alas.

You saw Transformers twice, so you should be doubly ashamed!

The second time doesn't count if it's with Rifftrax!

Hrm. I've only seen three of the movies on your terror list.

Sucker Punch: Watched on the 24 hour flight to the UK. I'm not entirely sure if this makes it into my top three worst movies of all time, but it comes close.
As one friend of mine said, they tried to out-Inception Inception and failed.

Green Lantern - Yeah.. such a generic generic generic movie. Probably still beats Hulk, but that's really not saying much.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon - Things went boom!... in my defense I watched it while killing time before heading to Heathrow airport where I'd have to sit around for seven hours.

Wow, being trapped on a plane with Sucker Punch must be in the deeper levels of Hell as eternal torture.

You made your family watch Season of the Witch? In the theater?! 0.0

...I thought you liked your family.

I watched the first 30 minutes for "free" on Netflix streaming, and still felt annoyed with myself afterwards.

I thought it could be so-bad-it's-good like Drive Angry. I was mistaken. And they have not let me forget it.
