A curiously ambivalent reaction

The Captain America trailer has, finally, come out. By which I mean the internet leaked it two days before it would probably be playing in front of Sucker Punch. Which I will see next week and then I can see the trailer on the big screen and, hopefully, have an opinion about it.

( Thoughts, some of a sexual nature, but mostly on the level. )

As someone with no attachment to Captain America, Chris Evans, or previous ads for this movie, I thought the trailer did an extremely good job; i.e., now I want to see it, and probably will unless reviews are aggressively mediocre or negative (which looks unlikely, honestly).

Then it's done its job, which? Is worth waiting for, isn't it? I mean there was a big stink about its trailer not being out, but now it is and it has worked on you and a few others. So that's better, isn't it?

But... I like cheesecake...

And yeah, I couldn't care less about the actors involved, and Cap is.. more often than not a dick (like Superman). On the other hand I think the trailer looks quite good, and should be worth a watch.
The head covering on the other hand just looks *WRONG* in live action.

The head covering is Ultimates-inspired, I take it. It looks better on a comic, I grant you. But I could come around. I wish they'd left his ears uncovered, though. The straps all around his head make his head look fat.

I did notice that, actually, and I thought it was a nice touch. Heh heh.

I thought the trailer looked excellent, and I am now at risk of raising my expectations for the film, something I am fighting mightily.

And yes, ScrawnyChris looked freaky, but it is part of the story.

I think that's it--I'm at risk of expecting something, and that makes me nervous. Because if I start having expectations, they can be not met.

Yeah, it is weird seeing him as the "98 pound weakling"; I agree.

Holy crap, I had to rewind it a couple of times to notice the love interest reaching out to almost touch his pecs because it happened so fast. Nice catch!

I'd be all for some sunshine and 80-degree weather about now, but without all that other crap that goes with it. Good luck and I hope it's relatively painless...and maybe even enjoyable for you. : )
