Weekend before this previous one, I went to my family's upstate house. I was the first visitor to the place in over four months. As a result, there were bunches of things that needed tending to. So I went up this weekend as well to help my mother and father deal with most of them. I cleaned out the swarms of dead ants and bits of dead skin in the hot tub (it's so sparkling clean now!), sprayed a billion wasps, and deforested all of the overgrown brambles from the front of the house (they'd grown so high they were reaching over the balcony).
I also watched a handful of movies. They were winners, all. Some more than others.
Vantage Point - I was tired of them replaying the same twenty minutes before they did it the second time.
After Alice - The adventures of Keifer Sutherland, Drunk Cliche Detective.
Shutter - I'm betting the Japanese original was less creepy if only because it wouldn't have had Joshua Jackson in the lead male role.
Jumper - You know your teleporting Anakin Skywalker movie is in trouble when the best special effect is Samuel L Jackson's dye-job.
The Ruins - It ought to be a crime that a movie about ancient, Mayan, man-devouring vines is so boring.
