Where do you put that on your resume?

Veronica Cartwright was not told about a significant plot point involving her character in two movies. You might have heard about the trick that Ridley Scott pulled on her (and the rest of the cast save John Hurt) in Alien. But did you know that she was also not informed about what would happen when she ran into Donald Sutherland in the remake of ( Read more... )

I watched both the original Invasion and the 1978 remake for our Kick-Ass Mystic Ninjas podcast on the subject. I just love that the chick is naked in the film, and they used that shot on the DVD menu, but painted a frumpy dress over her. Why not just use a scene where she has clothes on?

Actually, they filmed the scene both ways according to the IMDB. That way they could play it more easily on TV later.

Hahaha YES DOLPH LUNDGREN PUNISHER. My GOD. That movie. THAT MOVIE. Really, what more can you say??

I've never seen the Donald Sutherland Invasion of the Body Snatchers, for shame. I have seen the 90's version though, which is entirely forgettable. As is that one with Nicole Kidman. Yeeks, that one.

I KNO RITE? The Dolph should adapt every single freakin' comic book movie in the style of 1980s action schlock. It would be amazing.

I'm going to get around to the other adaptations of Invasion of the Body Snatchers aaaaany day now. There are only three hundred movies on my netflix queue between now and then.

I think Body Snatchers is and will be known for being by Bad Lieutenant director Abel Ferrara more than anything. I haven't seen it. I was kind of hoping they'd do a double feature DVD of The Invasion and Body Snatchers, and then they'd almost have the original's entire title.

Virginia Madsen is awesome in Candyman, which is probably one of the best underrated horror movies of the 90s, even though the last five minutes are kind of terrible.

Leonard Nimoy has a vocal cameo in Land of the Lost. It was awesome. Leonard Nimoy is awesome. The end.

When I get through either Body Snatchers or The Invasion, I'll chime in on the double feature. As it is, it would seem a bad idea to put the movies together. It's not like Body Snatchers was a spectacular failure the way The Invasion was. Also, wasn't it supposed to be Invasion?

I hear good things about Candyman, and I know it has my man Tony Todd in it. Worth taking a look, I gather?

There is no end to the awesome of Leonard Nimoy. He just is. You should have seen him in his 1970s getup, too. Wow.

Candyman is great. As I mentioned, it has a goofy ending, but the rest of it is pretty amazing. It has great performances by Virginia Madsen, Kasi Lemmons and Tony Todd, and it's one of the more intelligently written horror films I've seen. There's a surprising amount of racial tension in it, which sets it apart from other slasher films, and the psychological angle they play up in it is really cool too. Sweets to the sweet...

Conveniently, Candyman is available online to watch for free, if you don't mind commercials.
