The best of all possible booklogs

So last night, my roommate discovered mold growing all over the walls of her bedroom, and this morning we noticed that the wall of our kitchen that adjoins the bathroom (as her bedroom does) is bubbling and puckering. Obviously, we have a leak of some kind-gosh, I wonder if that could be connected to the hole in the bathroom ceiling we told the ( Read more... )

Doyle’s Holmes and Watson are like pizza and sex for George Carlin-even when they’re bad, they’re pretty good.

Best Valley of Fear review ever! :)

I know in some parts of the US, the landlord legally has to pay for a hotel or something if your apartment is rendered uninhabitable under certain circumstances. You might want to check your lease/with your local tenants rights organization?

We will definitely be doing that. We're just going to give our landlord a chance not to screw us over first. *FINGERS CROSSED*

I am regularly amazed at how many books you are able to read -- I'm a quick reader, but I never seem to be able to find the time. I think it's really awesome, though. ^^

Query: Have you read any Dorothy Sayers, or the Thief series by Megan Whelan Turner? I'm reading the former right now and really enjoying it, and thefourthvine reminded me how much I adore the latter; they're some of the best YA fics I've ever read.

I think it helps that I spent a lot of time on buses: that's almost an hour of reading time a day right there. It adds up!

I love Dorothy L. Sayers, and though I have the first volume of the Thief series, I haven't read it yet. I'm excited to hear that you love it-I shall bump it up my list!

It just occured to me that I referred to actual published fiction as fics. Oh my god, self. Do read the Thief series, though -- although I think it's definitely one of those books that needs to be read more than once, because when you read it again, knowing what's going to happen, you realize exactly how well the whole thing was set up, and it's even more awesome.

I noticed that, but I was too polite to say anything. ;-)

Honestly, I'm sure I've done that/almost done that at some point. Probably at work.

Good lord. Your life, it is so... well, I was going to say "exciting," but I think "shitty" is more the order of the day here. :(

You should turn thought into action-he's awesome! His first book, Complications, is probably the best place to start.
