Aso Mitsuhide stood in front of the penthouse door and looked at the sign next to the doorbell for a long moment. The small nameplate read “Nobori” and Mitsuhide sighed. He fanned himself nervously, whipping a fan out of his kimono sleeve and rang the doorbell.

Nobori Misako, the penthouse’s resident, was Mitsuhide’s wife. Lately, they’d been having a lot of fights and arguments and were almost on the verge of divorce. But Mitsuhide, being a Wolfen prince, could simply not stay angry with his wife. He loved her far too deeply and was never able to shake the image of Misako, heartbroken, standing at the altar when her former lover abandoned her. He simply could not let her slip away.

The door slowly opened and Mitsuhide found himself staring at his young wife. She was wearing a light purple yukata, her hair in a messy ponytail. She was surprised. “Mitsu…”

“Misa…” Mitsuhide fanned himself more and then bowed his head. “Can… may… may I come in?”

She silently stepped aside and allowed him entry.

“I… I feel like we need to talk.” Mitsuhide began, turning to her. “All this fighting… all our arguments… I… I don’t want a divorce.”

Misako crossed her arms. “You don’t?”

“No… I’m… I’m Wolfen, Misa. We don’t divorce.” Mitsuhide looked at her for a long moment, his mind flashing back to the image of a heartbroken girl in a beautiful gown, sobbing at the altar. “I…”

Misako was hesitant. “Then why did you leave me here while you went to Korea?”

“Because I was working for your father and he made me swear not to tell you about it. He refused to risk putting you in danger.”

Misako made an impatient noise. “Dad’s too overprotective of me.”

“There’s a suit of Kamen Rider armor in his office that has blood on it.” Mitsu replied. “As much as I think he enjoys having trophies, I think he wanted to keep you safe more. Being married to the Fangire Queen when you’re a Wolfen Prince is no easy task, especially when her father employs you.”

Misako turned away from him and stared out the window at the landscape, her fan paused over her face. Mitsuhide bit his lip. As happy as he was that she wasn’t yelling at him as she had before, her hesitance, her silence and her body language didn’t spell good things for him.

“Misako…” He would not give up. “…If I didn’t love you, I wouldn’t be here. You would be served with divorce papers. You’re my wife. I love you. I love the life we have together. I don’t… I will not, just let you slip through my fingers.”

She finally looked at him then, and he remembered meeting her in her private gardens. He remembered how beautiful she was… how quickly he fell in love with her. She bit her lip. “You… you’re awfully persistent.”

“I’m a Wolfen Prince. We don’t give up on our mates so easily. Wolves mate for life… as do we.”

When he stepped closer, Misako stepped back, but Mitsuhide, being one of Jiro’s sons, had finally grown tired of playing this back and forth game with her. Moving faster than she did, Mitsuhide pulled her into his arms and kissed her.

Misako didn’t struggle. She didn’t push him away and she didn’t throw him across the room. Instead, she pressed closer, pulling at his kimono. She was reacting to him and he was slowly beginning to win her back. He could feel her hands on his suddenly bare shoulders, smell the scent of violets and hear the soft moans for more.

He pulled back from her, leaving her flushed and breathless, her Queen insignia mark on her chest burning, signaling arousal. “Forgive me, Misako, my Queen…. I love you.”

Her voice took on a hollow tone as black and violet markings appeared on pale skin. “Mitsuhide… I love you more.”

Mitsuhide reached up to get her hair out of its ponytail and he ran his fingers through black silk strands. His gaze was affectionate and full of unbridled adoration. All the love he felt in his heart showed on his face. His touch was gentle and Misako sighed softly.

“You smell like violets.” He murmured.

“I can’t stay mad at you when you look at me like that.” Misako murmured. “Oh, Mitsu…”

He kissed her again before sweeping her up into his arms and carrying her off to her bedroom. “I love you, Queen.”

When Taiga summoned Mitsuhide away the next morning, he was reluctant to leave his wife behind. He knew full well that he couldn’t leave the country again and not come home to a fight. So, in a move that shocked Taiga and the entire D&P boardroom, Mitsuhide refused. He simply said that he had to tend to Misako’s desires.

When Taiga protested, Misako woke up, told her father to be quiet and then took the phone out of the wall.

Throwing the phone across the room, Misako curled back into bed. “So sorry about Dad.” She murmured. “He won’t be bothering us again.”

“I may not have a job though now…”

“Don’t you fret about that.” Misako murmured, kissing his nose. “I’ll take good care of you, Mi-tsu-hi-de.” She sang his name a little bit and he almost melted. She then looked at him with big, hopeful eyes. “Promise to never leave me again?”

He crossed his heart and nodded. “Yes, my Misa. I promise.”
