When Fujimori Tatsuya opened the door to the penthouse apartment belonging to his betrothed, Kurenai Mio, he was very surprised to find Mio standing in the center of her living room. She was standing on a pedestal of some kind, while her older brother, Kurenai Masao, was pinning a lavish golden gown on her. It reminded Tatsuya of the gowns worn by Anne Boleyn he’d seen on that drama Mio liked, “The Tudors”.
“I hope I’m not interrupting anything.” Tatsuya said, letting his presence be known and causing Masao to accidentally prick his sister.
“Ow! Onii-chan!” Mio yelped before looking up. “Oh! Darling! What are you doing home early?”
“Your father asked me to check in on you.” Tatsuya had a job working for Mio’s father, Nobori Taiga and occasionally, Taiga would ask him to check up on his daughters. Tatsuya especially loved getting to check up on Mio, his beloved. “I hope I am not interrupting things.”
“Oh, no…” Mio beamed and Tatsuya couldn’t help but smile back. Her smile, her joy and her energy were almost contagious. “You’re just in time to get a sneak peek at my wedding gown. Or, at least one of the designs Onii-chan is working on.”
“This is not the final one, mind you.” Masao, a fashion designer, had taken up the project of helping his youngest sister plan her wedding to Tatsuya, right down to creating a dress fit for a Queen. “But I always think it’s a good idea to have a backup.”
“You look so beautiful.” Tatsuya murmured admiringly. “Like a goddess or something.”
Mio smiled warmly at Tatsuya. “High praise from a man who, like his father and brothers, looks like a Wolfen god.”
“Mio!” Tatsuya blushed.
Masao chuckled as he finished pinning the skirt. “There, now, Mio… you can go change now.”
Mio smiled at her brother and then at Tatsuya and headed off into her bedroom, the gown swishing behind her.
“She’s something isn’t she?” Masao asked Tatsuya, who was still focused on the now closed bedroom door.
“She certainly is.” Tatsuya murmured.
“Take good care of her.” Masao clapped Tatsuya’s shoulder. “She’s my baby sister and if anything happens to her, so help me, Dad and Papa are going to be the least of your issues.”
“Do you Kurenai men enjoy regularly threatening the lives of anyone who dates a Kurenai woman?” Tatsuya had to ask.
“No. Well, I know as a Wolfen, you’ll stay with Mio forever, but every now and then, because I am the oldest… my protective nature kicks in. Comes with being the oldest brother AND the only son.” Masao smiled. “Besides, in some ways, I envy you. Any man would be proud to have a beautiful woman like Mio.”
Mio suddenly emerged, dressed in a black robe with butterflies on it, holding the dress in a garment bag. “Here you go, onii-chan.” She said with a big smile. “It’s ready for you to work your magic.”
Masao grinned. “Thank you, Mio.” He kissed her cheek. “I’ll call you when it’s time for another fitting, okay? And don’t forget about our meeting with my florist friend later this week.”
“How could I forget?” Mio shooed her brother out the door. “Don’t worry, onii-chan. I won’t. Bye now.”
Masao looked at Mio, then at Tatsuya and raised an eyebrow.
Tatsuya was too busy admiring Mio in her pretty robe, a gift from Maya and Masao had to chuckle.
“Perhaps I should go home to my hime…” Masao mused as he left the penthouse, smiling to himself.
“You do that…” Tatsuya smiled. “See you later, Masao-san.”
Mio giggled. “Did Dad really send you to check in on me?”
“That he did.” Tatsuya replied. “And he also knows not to expect me back at D&P today.”
Her eyes lit up. “Did he?!”
Tatsuya traced over Mio’s face and hair and he sighed softly, her soft smile delighting him. “He did, which gives me a nice afternoon to spend with you.”
“I’m sure Dad will not mind. Much… considering how many times Dad has taken time off to pursue some amorous encounters with Papa.” Mio smiled. “Why don’t you sit and listen to me play a while? I was just about to begin practicing.”
Tatsuya wasn’t sure what idea he loved more: spending a nice afternoon with Mio in bed or listening to her siren song via the violin. He decided to let the violin serve its purpose as foreplay instrument.
“Sure.” He sat down on a couch and watched as Mio went to fetch her violin. Before long, Mo was weaving a magical, musical spell across the room. Only her father, Wataru, surpassed Mio’s talent and Tatsuya was very content to just relax and listen to her.
Suddenly, the music came to a stop and a warm weight came down on top of him. Tatsuya opened one eye to find Mio straddling his waist and lying down on top of his chest.
“Ah…” She murmured. “How warm.” Tatsuya was built strong and stocky, which suited him as being the most muscular of his brothers. Every inch of him seemed to ooze power and masculinity. He was broad shouldered, tan and fit and he looked every inch the protector that he was. His strength and power was one of the reasons she loved him… but what she loved the most was his gentle heart… which was currently showing itself in way he touched her face and hair and skin.
“What did I do to land a treasure like you?” Tatsuya asked.
“Noticed me when no one else did.” She replied. “For that… “
“It’s okay.” He murmured. “I love you. I always have. Ever since we were children… you were the only woman I loved. I couldn’t wait until we grew up so I could marry you and make you happy. And now, I have. It’s like a wonderful dream.”
“Well, we’re not married yet…” She held up her hand to admire the engagement ring. “But yes… it is like a dream come true. Like something out of a fairy tale.”
“I like fairy tales.” Tatsuya remarked. “But I hope you won’t vanish at midnight.”
“No I won’t.” She promised. “I’m here to stay.”
He suddenly made quick work of Mio’s sash and she was nude in a second. “Good to know.” Before Mio knew it, she had been pulled down to him for a heated kiss.
Tatsuya ran his hands along her back as they kissed, delighting in warm skin, her softness, and the warm sounds of pleasure she made when he touched her.
This was absolutely heaven.
Suddenly, Mio found herself in Tatsuya’s arms, swept up into his embrace and being carried off to the bedroom. In response, she was squealing with delight, kicking her long legs as he carried her off.
“Tatsuya!” She cried.
“Isn’t it only proper for the prince to sweep his princess off her feet?” He asked, teasingly.
“Well yes, but now while she’s naked! What if the neighbors see?”
“I’m sure your neighbors have seen worse. Like your fathers playing bondage games with your dad’s scarf collection.” He laughed. “Besides, your room is nice and secluded. I am sure we will be undisturbed there.”
And Tatsuya, as usual, was right.
“What did I do to deserve a man as wonderful to me as you?” Mio mused as they lay in bed together, pink silk sheets wrapped around their bodies. “What on earth did I do to earn you love?”
“You were more beautiful than I could have imagined.” Tatsuya replied. “Even from a young age, I thought you were beautiful. And from that moment, I wanted to make you my wife.”
“How about now?”
“And now, I was right. You are no wallflower. Mio, you are the most beautiful rose in the world… you just hadn’t bloomed yet”
Mio’s heart fluttered as he pressed a kiss to her forehead and then rolled over so that he was propped up over her, resting on his arms. In the afternoon sunlight, he seemed to positively glow. His smile was warm and gentle and he kissed her nose, then her neck and then whispered. “My Bloody Rose… how much do you trust me?”
“With everything I am and more.” Mio replied, wondering why he asked her such a think.
“Are you sure?”
“Tatsu…”
“I ask, my love, because I want to… claim you as my princess.”
“I thought you already had.” Mio murmured.
“No, I claimed you as my mate. Claiming you as my princess means turning you… turning you Wolfen… or at least partially Wolfen.”
“You mean, like Sakomi-san?”
“Yes, like Sakomi-san.” He pressed his forehead against hers. “But this can only be done with consent. If you say no, I cannot force you.”
“Why would I say no?” She asked, genuinely curious. “I want to be yours, Tatsu. In every way possible.”
“So…you’ll let me?”
“Yes.” She tilted her neck to the side a little bit. “Go ahead. I want you to.”
Tatsuya’s eyes shimmered golden for a moment and he bent his head forward, “This will hurt a little bit.”
“I trust you… go on.”
Bearing his true fangs for a moment, Tatsuya bit into the juncture of her neck and Mio whimpered, crying out. Suddenly, before she knew it, the pain had vanished, only for every single sense to seem much more intense and overwhelming. It was as though her body was on fire. She let out a loud scream, her Fangire markings showing up and burning an intense black and silver.
Tatsuya got off her, worried he’d done something wrong, only to watch as she took on her snow leopard Fangire form one final time before the form seemed to shatter. Suddenly, all was quiet and Mio lay still.
“Dearest?” He asked, cautiously.
Mio sat up, slowly, panting, the sheets gathered around her. When she turned to face him, a slow, seductive smile spread across her face, her eyes shimmering a brilliant gold.
“Are you okay?” He asked.
“I’m great.” She murmured, inhaling the air, taking in her new senses with gusto. “Tatsuya, I feel WONDERFUL.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes!” She slowly rose from the bed and came to him, pulling him into a heated kiss. “Tatsuya, I feel… brand new.”
He broke the kiss so he could kiss the mark he’d left behind on her neck. “I’m glad. I wasn’t sure how it would go. Changing a Fangire is different than changing a human.”
“I’m glad you did.” She sighed softly before pulling him back into bed. “Now, enough talking. It’s time to celebrate.”
And celebrate they did.
Tatsuya was right… it was like a fairytale. Only, since it was real, it was much, much better.
