Summary: Yuri tends to her husband.
“Maybe next time you’ll listen to me when I tell you that going after prey that big is a bad idea.” Fujimori Yuri murmured as she laid out a set of first aid supplies. Her husband, Fujimori Jiro, was lying on their shared futon, bloody and wounded after a hunt gone wrong. “Now, just lay still and let me handle things. I’ll have you as good as new in no time.”
“I thought I could handle it…” Jiro half-groaned, hissing as Yuri carefully began to clean the blood off him with a warm washcloth. “Ouch… that stings.”
“It’s all right. Just relax.” Yuri had a gentle hand as she wiped off the blood, cleaning the wounds and then began the long process of bandaging her love.
“What did I do to deserve a mate like you?” He managed a weak smile as she lifted his arm to wrap the bandages around the largest of her husband’s wounds. None of them were serious, thank goodness, and once the blood was cleaned away, he already began to look better. “You’re too kind to me. I half expected you to leave me out there to teach me a lesson.”
“As if I would leave my mate injured and vulnerable.” She scoffed. “Never in a million years.” Carefully, she began to apply some healing salves to another wound on his chest. “Although, I told you. You do not go after things bigger than you. Especially if they happen to have HOOVES.”
“I wasn’t expecting it to fight back.” Jiro muttered as she tore off some tape to hold the gauze down.
“Never underestimate a spooked horse.” Yuri shook her head. “And serves you right for going after someone else’s livestock. How do you think wolves got such a bad rap in the first place?”
“I didn’t know it belonged to someone else!” He winced, wheezing as his air gave out too quickly and Yuri gently pushed him back down.
“Stop squirming.” She instructed. “You’ll start bleeding again.”
Several long minutes of silence passed, broken only by Yuri’s soft singing as she tended to her mate, her loving touch making him ache to take her, but knowing she’d insist on waiting until he was all healed. Finally, after a few more minutes and more bandages, Yuri cheerfully smiled.
“There! All better, yes?” She asked, turning to put away the supplies and throw out the garbage.
“Much better.” Already he did feel better. “All thanks to you.”
The smile she gave him made his heart do an involuntary flip. “Now, will you listen to me when I tell you not to do something stupid?”
When she came to kneel before him, he leaned over as much as his body would let him and kissed her as softly as he could.
“Yes. I promise.”
