I find your volunteer work to be incredibly admirable. Especially since it requires being poked and prodded. Good god I hate needles!

But as far as your second thoughts on leaving the tech industry, I think you're justified in those doubts. I personally like working on projects by myself, as opposed to being part of a team, mostly because I'm a complete control freak, but your salary will definitely be quite an adjustment to do without. Plus you're a geek at heart! You'll never be happy not being able to surf the web whenevs. :)

I just found out that because my doctor doesn't have a record of my vaccination against measles/mumps/rubella that now I have to have bloodwork (!) to make sure I'm immune! When will this end?

I've been having doubts about the tech industry for a while. But now I'm having doubts about nursing too. I wish I could just be sure about something for once!

I don't know about you, but I have a hard time believing I will ever be truely fulfilled no mater what I do. All the time I'm like "I'd rather be a [insert job of the week here]!" and I think about it and day dream about it. But the truth of it is that there are good parts to every job, and there are bad parts to every job. If I were to change tracks and go become a civil engineer or whatever else I'm dreaming about I'd get bored with that too. I'm just one of those people. Just like this job there'd be times I loved it and times I'd be daydreaming about being, I dunno, a forensic lab tech ( ... )
