I find it interesting that they actually have a little blurb on mental health crises in their automated phone system. Does this sort of thing happen often enough to warrant such a response? I'm not sure if I want to know.

As an aside, for that demotivational poster to apply to dispatch, wouldn't that mean that you'd route callers to, well, God? What would constitute a better place, aside from a fully funded and staffed dispatch center?

If you knew what we know about that hotel, you'd understand the mental health reference. It's not a hotel in the sense that actual travelers stay there; it's a hotel in the sense that people stay for unpredictable lengths of time with no real rental contracts because they might be able to pay this week, but they won't be able to pay next week. They have all the attendant problems of being crazy/drunk/drugged/all of the above.

As for the demotivational poster, I simply quote at you a line from your question: What would constitute a better place, aside from a fully funded and staffed dispatch center?

How about a fully funded, staffed dispatch center... that works with other mental health, law enforcement, emergency response agencies that are also fully funded and staffed? ;)
