Generally, I don't consider myself a gun enthusiast. In fact, I generally try to distance myself from people who are, figuratively as well as literally. On the other hand, I don't think that enthusiasm for weaponry is bad in and of itself, and while I do strive to be non-violent in my personal life, I'm not exactly a pacifist, either

I also think that having an immersive experience is a big part of it, especially when your fight or flight response kicks in. It's a rush, it's fun, and it's instant-gratification to have lots of small victories (I think that's why basketball is so popular).
My only experience with firearms is the Daisy air rifle my brother got me for my 21st birthday. All I ever did with it was shoot cardboard boxes across the pond, but damn, it was fun. There _is_ skill involved, even if it's not what I would call sport.
