Masters in Literature

I've been thinking about the word Master a lot over the last couple days. Why, you ask? Well, to be fair, you probably don't ask, but I'm going to tell you anyway, so deal.

hm, you make me think about hierarchical relationships. are they necessary? are they a blessing, a curse? Are human beings designed to think (evolve?) in the structure of hierarchy, or is there a different way in which to conceive of inter/intrapersonal relationship and "growth". I have personally had a love-hate relationship with hierarchy of many sorts for several years now. Also, I really like the book Jane Eyre, and how fascinating are its examples of hierarchy. So, thank you for your thoughts! They've given me another way to look at the puzzle.
