Sixth floor safe room, Saturday

Even good emotions could get to be too much, and all the intense amounts joy and bittersweet sadness had quickly gotten to be too much for Raven. She'd retreated to the safe room to block it all out better than her own shielding could. A handful of guests back from the dead would've been easily handled, but when the whole island was roiling with ( Read more... )

Hoshi made a quick stop in the 6th floor kitchen to do some cooking before heading for the safe room.

"Raven? I brought you some food," she said, knocking softly on the door. "And I made sure to try and leave my emotions back in my room."

"Come in, Hoshi," Raven said, grateful for the visit. "Please, do not worry. It is not a problem when it is only a few people around me, but the entire school is just so full of emotion now."

"People must be going crazy with all these unexpected visitors. Luckily, that's not something I have to worry about," said Hoshi. "Anyway, I brought you my not-so-famous enchiladas. They're my favorite, but everyone usually asks for Japanese food instead."

"Enchiladas?" Raven repeated. "What are the made from, I have never tried such a thing before."

She set her laptop on the table next to the chair see sat in. "There is a great deal of joy in the dorms now, and some sorrow as well. But even good emotions can overwhelm me, so I sought refuge here."

"I made sure to make the vegetarian version. It's a mixture of green and red peppers, onions and mushrooms, wrapped in tortillas, covered with cheese and tomato sauce, and then baked in the oven," said Hoshi, carefully taking the cover off her casserole dish. "I'm sure I would be overjoyed if my grandfather had shown up, but I think it would have been rather frightening as well. I'm glad he didn't."

Raven peered at the dish. "It smells delicious," she said. "Thank you, I cannot wait to try it." Mmm, vegetables and cheese.

"I have no visitors as well," she added. "But that is probably for the best."

Luckily, Hoshi had remembered that Raven was a vegetarian before she started assembling the enchiladas, but she'd find other uses for the ground beef she'd left out.

"Yeah, that's definitely a good thing, because then you wouldn't have been able to hide out here," she agreed.

[No worries!]

"There is room enough for a guest here," Raven said lightly, though Hoshi was right; she wouldn't have wanted to hole up in the safe room. She'd want to show her mother all over her new home.

"Oh! Speaking of guests, thank you so much for taking me to see Hurley while I was transformed," said Hoshi. "I really appreciate it, even if he probably wished he'd gotten there on a different day."

"You are welcome," Raven said. "I knew you would want to see him. I only wish I could have somehow changed you back into yourself!"

"Especially since he only had that one day," said Hoshi with a sigh. She was trying to keep her emotions in check, but it was difficult not to be frustrated with the situation.

"But he called the other day after I transformed back. He's out of the hospital, so I'm going to visit him. And I'm going to bring a computer so we can hopefully do some video chats," she added, managing to smile a bit.

"Oh, that is wonderful," Raven said, smiling. "If you have any trouble arranging a portal, please, tell me, and I will see if I can teleport you to him."

"I think Portalocity is cooperating, but I'll keep that in mind if I have any trouble with them," said Hoshi. "It will be really nice to see Hurley again. It seems his mother doesn't believe I exist."

"Why does she not believe?" Raven said, puzzled. She would've thought Hurley's mother would have more problems with believing in empaths and witches and jedi and the like.

"My understanding is that Hurley was afraid to tell her any sort of details about his girlfriend from the future," said Hoshi. "And then she started nagging him about finding a nice girl, so when Hurley told her that he had a girlfriend, she thought he was making up a story to get her to leave him alone."

She shrugged. "It sounds weird to me, but I didn't exactly tell my dad about Hurley when he came to Fandom for my graduation."

"That is not nice of his mother, to pressure him and not to believe him," Raven said, frowning. Clearly, she had little experience with what mothers acted like. "Will you meet his mother then, while you are there?"
