This is how things could be done... It's not evil or socialist.. it's hard driving capitalism, but one where the end goal is not gigantic profits for just 1% of the populace, but rather an increasingly wealthy and huge middle class...

It just sickens me when I see the phrase, "Too generous to employee's." coined by Wall Street. If it works for CostCo, why knock it?!

Fuckers!

Yay CostCo!

you rarely hear such people complain about a corporation being "too generous to its CEO" or "too generous to its shareholders" etc etc...

I also like the part that they have in there--the quote from I think the owner's dad--who was a steelworker--who said.. "yeah, wall street brokers focus on how to make money from this monday until next thursday, whereas our focus is to make sure that we are still making money 50 years from now.."

Financially in the long run it makes sense to pay your employees well/treat them well. If employees are happy then there will be less turn-over and thus less cost to the company for re-hiring, re-training,etc. Plus a lot of businesses can make it or break it by word of mouth. If there is increased employee satisfaction they will most likely talk about it...thus improving the reputation of the company.

My niece just got a job at Culver's and they have the same outlook. They treat there employees well and pay them much more than McDonalds. I'm not encouraging anyone to eat at Culver's (I am afterall a Dietitian) however I would recommend them over the other fast food joints anyday.
