be freaked out by organizations like Christian Exodus?

At their very core, they hold values that are almost 100% anti-thetical to those that I hold.. and they have support from groups like southern nationalists, who, after looking through their site, also tend to creep me out ( Read more... )

*shudder* I swear one of these days I'm going to have to stop reading the news and your posts! :) It's frustrating because while I believe in the right of Christians to practice their religion... I don't believe it is right for them to A.) use government institutions to advance their agenda and B.) force their view of morality on me or others. How do you negotiate a mutually acceptable system of government and law with a group that is increasingly unwilling to negotiate? In many ways they seem embodied in the character of George W. Bush - "If you're not with us, you're against us" followed closely by "The great uniter" the next. The right wing has gotten so good at using nationalism and doublethink against us (by us I mean secular humanists or more broadly the liberal part of society) that I increasingly wonder if it will be *us* who are deported from the United States some day. There are deep rifts between what each camp believes the stated principles this nation were founded on mean. How do you bridge that and move forward ( ... )

I think it's a great idea.

Concentrate all the crazies in SC, and watch the "swing states" turn blue.
