Room 313 | Friday Evening

Jan 13, 2012 19:10

Luke's week had been...well, not particularly good, but he had done more than he had the previous weeks since he had gotten back. He was trying to get over the self-pitying thing, but it wasn't easy. At least he had managed (in his opinion) to to keep it to himself for the most part ( Read more... )

"How is it that you are not forced to share your room?" Loki would complain to someone about this. Someone!

"Uh, because I'm awesome." And his old roommate was trapped in another universe thanks to Luke. Whoops.

Hey now. Loki would probably do that to have his own room too.

So.

"I'm sure you are," Loki replied dryly. "But that alone would not get you a room to yourself or I would as well."

Ah, healthy egos.

"Maybe you're not as amazing as you think you are," Luke said. "It's a possibility, you know."

Loki sniffed as though that was rude, but he wasn't going to mention it. Except for he was still making the noise. Deal with it.

"Hardly. I have been stuck with a girl of all things."

"And what is wrong with that?" Luke asked. "You're too old to believe in cooties."

"Cooties?" That certainly wasn't covered on Wikipedia.

"Yeah, it's a stupid mortal thing," he explained. "Kids use a fake disease called cooties as an excuse not to interact with the opposite sex."

He wasn't even gonna explain the cootie shot thing.

"...Are there symptoms?" Loki, don't use this to get rid of your roommate.

"Well considering the disease doesn't exist you can make up whatever you want about it," Luke said. "But are you really that annoyed by your roommate? What, does she snore or something?"

"No, but I am not well suited to sharing. Anything." Shocking.

"That's so surprising." It was not. "It could be worse, you know. I used to have to share a tiny cabin with a dozen of my siblings and whatever child of a minor god that wandered our way. You couldn't walk a step without tripping over some kid of Morpheus sleeping on the floor."

"...truly?" Loki asked.

"Truly," he said. "There were twelve cabins for the twelve Olympians, but since dad's the god of travelers his cabin took in any other demigod that needed a place to stay."

That was almost sweet except for the fact it was Luke taking care of everybody, not Hermes.

"Percy got a cabin to himself. Just like he got a single room here almost right away. The brat."

"Is that how they treat all demigods where you are from?" Look, the only ones he knew from his world were Hercules and Alex. Not the best examples.

"Until recently, yeah. The gods huddled us together and then tried to forget we existed," Luke said with a nod. "But then there was something of a demigod uprising that made the gods take notice and decide not to take us for granted."

At least Luke hoped that's how things went. He'd hate to think he died for nothing.
