Aly's Office - All Day Saturday

Oct 02, 2010 09:27

Her two worlds had crashed together last night when an over-excited Lianna had shown up at her apartment thrilled to be spending the weekend with her mom. Aly was still bemused about it, but in a relaxed, comfortable way that she had never expected. Her daughter in Fandom had always seemed an impossibility, but here she was, picking the locks Aly ( Read more... )

After having breakfast with Percy, Poseidon, still dressed in the Bermuda shorts, Hawaiian shirt and fisherman's hat, had excused himself to meet his teachers. For most of Percy's life, that had his mother's job so Poseidon was taking his chance when he could.

Percy had rolled his eyes and told him that wasn't necessary but Poseidon had insisted and he was now standing in the doorway of this office, smiling warmly.

"I didn't really think walking out of the ocean with a trident in my hand would do anything other than embarrass my son. I'd rather not do that."

He'd been a mostly absentee father and he didn't want to add embarrassing to the list of parental blunders he'd made.

And she couldn't help laughing. "That answers my question. I'd say he's a teenager which means anything you do will be embarrassing to him in some way."

"Well, if I can keep it minimal, I'll consider this a success," he replied, nodding. "Percy and Luke, they're getting on?"

Aly tilted an eyebrow at the god in her office. "Should I be worried if they weren't?"

"I wouldn't be surprised if Percy had tried to kill him," Poseidon said bluntly.

"Not in my classroom he won't" was the instant response but Aly was obviously taking the comment seriously as she mulled over the interactions she'd witnessed. "If Nico wasn't there as a buffer, perhaps, but so far no violence." Her eyebrow quirked again as she looked at Poseidon. "Why would Percy try to kill his cousin?"

"The timeline differences, as you've explained them, brought Percy here at a time when he and Luke are not...getting along."

That was putting it very, very lightly. Poseidon was actually surprised he could talk about the resurrection of Kronos and the possible war with the Titans so easily.

"I'm assuming that's quite the understatement," she commented, considering his words.

"Luke betrayed and turned against both the gods and goddesses and the demigods," he said bluntly. "He aligned himself with the Titans."

Well, if that wasn't a one-sided view of things, Aly didn't know what was. Not that she was going to mention it to the god in front of her. She could feel the anger he was suppressing even if it wasn't overwhelming (thankfully), and for a moment, she wondered if that was how Mithros and the Great Goddess viewed her and her compatriots who supported Kyprioth and the raka queen.

"Who are the Titans?" was the obvious question here.

"They are the race that preceded the gods," he explained with a quiet sigh. "They included my father, Kronos. They were chaotic and corrupt. They were cruel and merciless. And they are returning."

It appeared that gods in every world were all kind of fucked up. It must be that weird family thing.

"And I'm guessing their time out hasn't really...helped their tempers?" she checked, frowning just a little as she tried to connect the mischievous, sure, but seemingly good-natured Luke in her class with this alliance.

"They have spent the last eternity in Tartarus," Poseidon filled in, shaking his head. "I don't think I would be in a very good mood either. Luke has aligned himself with Kronos and his army to make this resurrection easier."

She nodded, just barely able to stop herself from pointing out that technically an eternity was unending. The fact that he wasn't Kyprioth helped there.

"Perhaps this Luke will be able to make different choices," she pointed out. "And perhaps Percy's able to recognise that."

"We shall see," Poseidon said, not really having much hope of that. "The time when Percy's coming from, the war between the Titans and Olympus is nearly upon us. The demigods are being asked to do many dangerous things, Percy included. Luke being here cannot be easy."
