If being back on the island was strange, ending up in this apartment was even stranger. Aly didn't mind at all really. She'd gotten used to the extra space of her rooms at the palace, and when Lianna came to visit, the spare room would be useful

A knock on Aly's door would come around mid-day. Cally had finally been able to entrust her child to the town daycare again, and wanted to check in on her newest tenant. Building up the landlord-tenant relationship was part of her job, after all.

"He turned one just a few weeks ago," Cally said. "There was going to be a party but things got all crazy. I don't think he'll hold it against me, though."

She smirked. "Your secret is safe with me. Whether it's secret with any eaves-dropping squirrels, that's another matter."

"Probably not," she agreed. "And if you're worried, you can always have it late and tell him it was his birthday party. He won't remember." Aly rolled her eyes at the mention of the squirrels. "I used to have them well-trained. I'll have to hope they remember me."

"We can always fake pictures in Photoshop, he'll never know the difference when he's older," Cally said. She was totally a great mom. "Not like I have any pictures of anything from before we got here, any way."

"They don't actually care about it as much as we think they do," Aly said, shaking her head with amusement.

"We'll see," Cally said with a nod. "And as for the squirrels, well... I think they're still well trained. If not, you can always whip them back into shape. They'll definitely learn fast."

"They're afraid of my knives," she said innocently. "I don't know why."

"Well, you won't need to use them on me," Cally said. "You ever need anything for the room, anything needing fixing, just let me know. That's definitely what I do best around here."

"I'll do that," Aly said with a warm smile. "I doubt I'll have too many problems, but if they come up, I'll let you know. You ever need someone to watch Nicky, give me a call too, okay?"
