We've been doing the tourist thing with LittleSister. We went to http://www.staglands.co.nz/ to pet the animals. And feed them. You buy little bags of food and the animals see them and come up to you for breakfast.
AAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!! GUINEA-FOWL! Those are my favorites! Chickens are pretty. Feathered things are just pretty in general. But I have a giant soft spot for guinea-fowl.
I was traumatized by getting bitten by a horse at a place much like that when I was about four. It didn't really hurt me, but it scared the living daylights out of me. The only other thing I remember about the place was that there was a much loved black-and-white cow there named "Hamburger."
Guinea hens! My grandmother kept a flock of guinea hens -- lovely eggs, light tan and thinner and more oblong than chicken eggs with a very eggy flavor.
I used to love the spotted feathers as a child. I'd gather them up and take them into school for crafts.
Lots of happy animal pics. And you can never go wrong with chickens!
