[Jacob to his credit tried to be on time. He was actually excited to see Katniss. A part of him was still invested in seeing her alive from his brief friendship with Rue. So when he did come across her, he couldn't help smiling brightly. It really did feel good to see that she was okay.]

A part of her was glad to be alive, that she could protect her family a while longer, but an even greater part of her was upset that Rue had to die for her to live.
