Morning in Ebony's Room

Jay woke slowly, stretching out and enjoying the few minutes of mindless half-sleep that always came with leisurely mornings. There would be things to worry about later, there always were, but for now, it was nice to just lie beside Ebony and enjoy the morning. The sound of Patsy's voice shouting about someone named KC pulled Jay a bit farther from sleep, and he reluctantly relinquished his hold on Ebony and sat up. The memories from the day before were returning to him as he woke up, and he considered them as he looked down at Ebony, who was beginning to stir as well. Where were you yesterday? Jay reached for his shirt, swinging his legs over so that his feet hit the floor, and was pulling it over his head when a voice he would have recognized anywhere called out, "Hello? ... Hello?" Jay was on his feet in a second, digging through his bag, and felt his fingers tighten around a T-gun just as Mouse's little voice screamed, "TECHNO!" Ebony had been content to simply lay in bed next to Jay, sleeping in as the warm feel of his body lulled her back into slumber. Shouting in the mall began to pull Ebony out of the pleasantly drowsy state she wanted to remain in, her eyes opening sleepily but closing once more. There was *always* shouting going on at the mall it seemed, and she found no immediate need to move from her comfortable position.

The sudden jarring movement of the bed instantly brought her back to the waking seconds before she realized who the familiar voice from within the mall belonged to. In the moment it took for her to glance behind at Jay, he was already off the bed and retrieving his T-gun, telling her to stay put. Ebony waited no more than a beat before she too threw aside the bed covers, hastily throwing on some clothes that had been lying by the side of the bed, before finally exiting the room.
