That same calm had left Road restless, a bit more than simple boredom. It was too quiet, too still indoors, and she'd gone out thinking that maybe it would be better there, but it turned out to be exactly the same, or worse even. Her new pet slunk at her heels, the young direwolf already tamed enough not to dare to try to run away from her.

She was humming under her breath as she walked, sometimes stopping to laugh and tilt back her head to catch snowflakes on her tongue. At least it was pretty outside, and cold, so cold, but she didn't seem to be feeling it, lucky enough for her since her light jacket and short skirt and stockings barely provided any protection against it.

The lit trees caught her attention, and she tugged playfully at the wolf's fur to make it follow her there, pretending she hadn't seen the other figure who'd stopped before her to watch them.

Once the little girl arrived, Castiel looked down toward her and her pet curiously. He’d never seen a dog like that before. Actually, he didn’t think he’d ever seen a little girl like that before either. The angel kept his eyes trained on her for a long moment, as if studying her, and then looked up at the trees filled with floating candles again.

“I wonder how they stay up there.” Is all he could think to say, since that’s what was on his mind a little while ago, before she arrived. Some sort of magic he supposed. The beings that ran this world must have quite a bit of power to drag people here and then maintain this personal playground.

Road returned his curious look, tilting her head up in his direction. Her short dark hair was tumbling into her eyes because of all the snow that had melted in it, but she didn't seem to mind. She was wondering who he was, what his world was like.

"Magic?" she suggested. There was a small smile playing on her lips, something between amused and nostalgic. They reminded her of her own lights, pretty coloured candles suspended in a void to illuminate an ancient little girl's dreams. Sometimes she wondered if that was what this world really was, nothing but all of them caught as puppets in someone else's dream. It wouldn't be the first time she'd done that herself to other people. Just never on this kind of scale.

"They're very pretty," she added in a little girl's happy voice. "I wonder if they'll stay until Christmas."

Castiel couldn't help but feel a smile tug at the corner of one of his lips at the little girl's musings. She was cute. And yet he still got the feeling that there was more to her than meets the eye. "Maybe they will." His tilted his head slightly as he admired the flickering lights. "I'm surprised they would celebrate Christmas here." Or it could be the gods aren't celebrating it, they're just letting the humans celebrate it.

"Do you see a lot of magic in this world?" Since he only just arrived, there's a lot he's trying to figure out. Castiel would be used to things such as miracles, but for all of these magic spells and other strange occurances to happen out in the open is puzzling. The people here appear used to it though.
