There's no need to hurry when it concerns Matt. He rarely leaves the loft, much less the bar itself, save for a trip to the bath house and to trail after someone when needed. He was downstairs now, arms folded across the counter and communicator nearby. A lot of people probably didn't realize just how much he kept tabs on things. Old habits die hard.
He'd been wondering about this moment...the new Mello. He finally had an appreciation for what the one before had gone through with being 'reunited' with him over and over again. It was unsettling. Fortunately it took a lot for what Matt was thinking or feeling on the inside to show on the surface.
Matt pushed his goggles on top of his head when he heard--no, recognized those footsteps. At least one thing hadn't changed. But it was matched by one thing that had.
"Just used to seeing you with scars from the explosion."
He was used to doing more than just seeing them. And those memories made him realize that he actually missed them. They were so much a part of the terrain of the Mello that he knew.
"For you. Yeah, I guess it is." Didn't he say the last time he'd saw him was when he left Wammy's? Matt unfolded his arms and took a shot glass from underneath the bar. He filled it before sliding it across to the blond. "Guess you still remember me as the guy who didn't even look up from his gameboy when you said goodbye."
Mello's features sink into a deep frown, and he looks to the side, considering. Then, with a slight twitch of the side of his nose (irritable tic), he takes the glass.
"I remember that. What I don't remember is any explosion, Matt."

"Yeah, no scars. Why does that come as a surprise, Matt?"
Pause for a moment of nostalgia. Mello's looking him up and down.
"It's really been a while."
