This might be a silly question, but what is the difference between major and minor character death? Is it how much the death affects the story or the role of the character. I have a pretty major death but it's of a minor character who mostly is kind of lurking in the shadows until the big reveal. I just want to make sure I warn for it properly.

Thanks!

Thanks for asking!

Major and minor refer to the character, not the death. A major character would be someone who's a part of the story just about from the beginning, someone who the reader will get a lot of interaction with. A minor character is one who hasn't had much "screen" time, even if their death has a large impact on the characters. Think main characters vs secondary characters. In your case, I'd go with the "minor character death" warning.
