I have been fascinated with the psychology and physiology of survival for years. I own Laurence Gonzales's superb book, Deep Survival: Who Lives, Who Dies, and Why. Buy it!
Yes! I love this book. The key message I've taken from all the survival stories I've read is his 3rd point:
Think, Analyze, and Plan
Survivors quickly organize, set up routines, and institute discipline.
I am eager to read his new book, Everyday Survival.
Another excellent book I own that I highly, highly recommend is Surviving the Extremes: What Happens to the Body and Mind at the Limits of Human Endurance. By a doctor who is an expert in "extreme medicine," he goes into his journeys to Mount Everest, the jungles of Brazil, deep under the sea, etc. He talks about what physiologically happens to you when you drown, how people have survived extreme emergencies like being lost in the desert or the middle of the ocean, etc.

Another good book I own:
The Survivor Personality.
