Yeeeeaaaahhh! Being Chinese, of course I feel great pride at this achievement (and at how buffed and great these guys look). Haven't had time to watch the Olympics at all yet.

Where is the best place to watch past Olympic videos online? NBC.com?

Here's Yang Wei:

http://www.nbcolympics.com/ is the official site. They've got lots of video. It can be a little choppy, and it requires a microsoft video plugin (it's free), but they've got a good selection of videos.

I watched some of the gymnastics. I'm not a huge gymnastics fan, but the things they do are just ridiculous. When one of the Chinese guys was on the rings, one of the commentators pointed out that just a few years ago everyone would have thought this one move he did was impossible. It just required an incredible amount of strength (he moved from horizontal to vertical with no momentum, just strength).

From what I saw, the Chinese deserved to win. They were darn good. I'm also glad the US managed the bronze, after everything that's gone on with them.

Yeah, I was reading the Chinese team did some unusually complex and difficult moves. Go both teams, the Chinese and U.S.!

Their coach said he'd jump off the highest building in Beijing if his team didn't win. He signed a contract saying that he wouldn't allow any of his athletes to get injured. Insanity.
I think the true standouts of the night were team USA--both Paul and Morgan Hamm were injured but they still managed some amazing routines, especially on the uneven bars, and got bronze, which is more than was expected of them.

I saw the men's gymnastics last night. Watching the swimming and women's gymnastics right now. It's incredible what they do.

I must admit it's nice having four different countries to cheer for, at least China is giving me lots to cheer for. All Canada is doing is breaking national records :P.

The Chinese women's team just took gold as well. They're amazing, but it's astonishing to see the contrast between the male and female gymnasts. The men actually look like adults; the women are mostly about 16 and look about 10. I know that East Asian women are on average smaller and lighter than Western women, but to be 4'8" and weigh 70 pounds at the age of 16? I'd like to know what happens in their childhood training that stops them from developing physically. It doesn't seem to be the same with most of the other gymnasts, but maybe the Chinese team just started training at an earlier age.

Nevertheless, I've always been in awe of what gymnasts can do. I'd love to have that much grace and agility.

Ha! I haven't been watching the Olympics whatsoever, but when I went home to visit my Dad a couple days ago, we watched these guys, and they were RIDICULOUSLY awesome.
