Down to 12% body fat and 131 lbs!! Swam 0.4 miles. Ran 2 miles.

Oh my God. Although tonight's swim was disappointing, I set another personal record today---in my lowest body fat percentage (and weight) ever! And the side of my knee FINALLY did not hurt when I ran! (However, it does hurt when I press it now.)

Tonight I'm down to 12 percent body fat!!! And I weigh 131 pounds! (I always measure myself after a ( Read more... )

You make me tired just reading about it!

I'm pleased you manage to work through the aches and pains. So far it has also worked for me at the gym. I hate the thought of sustaining an injury that keeps me inactive.

Do you work out much on a cross-trainer? I love that instrument of torture: it seeks out muscles you never knew you had and makes them ache! But unlike the treadmill or road-running (meep, meep!), the cross-trainer does not continually pound your joints and ligaments.

I'm curious about your Tanita scale: how does it actually measure fat? It looks like a normal bathroom scale, but with more buttons.

It's not good to work through ANY pain. It's better to closely monitor your body, understand what type of pain it is, and decide whether it's serious or not.

What's a cross-trainer? Give me a link.

I don't belong to a gym. Want to save money, and I explore other ways to get fit at home or outside. In fact, I just tried Turbo Jam and Chalene Johnson's fantastic kickboxing workout last night! Phenomenal! It combines kickboxing with dance and body sculpting. Very high intensity, fast, fun, cheap, and efficient. Not boring, since she keeps changing the moves. You can do it at home. AND my knees did not hurt one bit! With just 15 minutes, I was sweating like a pig and getting a very strenuous workout.

I will post about Turbo Jam next.

My scale uses bioelectrical impedance analysis to measure body fat percentage. Here are various measurement techniques.

Here's the U.S. Navy method. You could do this right now, with a tape measure ( ... )

Similar bf% goals! anonymous November 5 2007, 04:31:15 UTC
Whoa, we must be very similar in body build. I, too, have always dreamed of getting to "single digit" (i.e. 9%) but have always ave. between 16%-18%, and 138-142#, depending on the time of year. I once dropped to 14% but that involved commuting to work by bicycle 2-3 days a week in addition to my usual exercise and eating regimen ( ... )
