You know I have no early memories... Memories before my sixth year... I don't have them. I just remember going to school in first grade.. that's it.. It always surprises me that people know so much from their childhood. For me... there aren't many memories.
You know, it could simply be that there wasn't anything that was...well, not necessarily traumatic, but that really made a HUGE impact on you.
My memories centre around trauma - like the hospital, and going through a glass door, and being an english-speaking child in a french-speaking pre-school. And the dog that pooped in the foyer at the front door when I was about 3-ish. As I recall, the dog suddenly disappeared after that incident. It was a dalmation puppy. Like I said - trauma.
I agree with you, however, at how suprising it is when people can come up with such detailed recollections of childhood - especially as toddlers or infants. Personally, I'm glad I don't...remembering the cigarette burn on my arm is not something I'd like to recall in great detail. :-( Mercifully, I don't recall it at all, only know about it through the anecdotes of others.
But, just a heads up, as you get older, you will be surprised at what suddenly pops up by way of memories from childhood. ;-)
