Deconstructing "Deaf Man in a Shtiebel"

I was listening to my playlist this morning, and the song "Deaf Man in a Shtiebel" came on. This is the type of song that's written to pull on your heartstrings, and I guess it does a good job, but it is not rooted in logic. This bothers me more than it does other people, so I'm going to rant a little bit about it:

good stuff. and crazy about the knock-off baseball song. but yeah, i fall for these things. the heartstrings, as you say.

I hate pull-at-your-heartstrings songs that have no purpose but to make people cry, anyway. I never liked "Blind Man in the Bleachers" because it has no value other than that. OTOH, a song like 100 years makes me cry, like every single time, and I don't mind because it actually has a reason--it makes me think about things, not just bawl like a baby for no real reason..
