::can't help but be just a little taken aback by the trace condescension in that statement...damned Betazoids::

For all she knows this could be professional. I get to hold court for the crazies too.

...

::clears throat::

Beautiful as ever, Counselor.

Actually, I do need a little help, just not that kind. Today.

::takes blank black stare as encouragement to get to point::

I understand you have some regular contact with my sister, Moira.

::coughs, eyes automatically going to other door...the one leading to Titan's sickbay::

Well, yes, I suppose I do.

::drums fingers under desk...she's not going to make this easy, is she?::

Well, I don't.

That is to say, the last unclassified contact location I could find for her is Earth, several months ago. Apparently, she's not there anymore, and when I contacted Command, they pointed me back in your direction.

I'm aware that you were in charge of filtering some personal communiques early on, and if Molly just doesn't want to hear from me I guess I understand that too, but...this is important.

Hold on a moment.

::leans forward in chair, opening window on other screen...Pathfinder records::

The last contact information you could find for her...Mr. Paris, when exactly was the last time you actively spoke to your sister?

::spreads hands in surrender, giving her her pride::

::looks down at them for a moment, considering request::

I assume you've heard that I have a kid. Two, actually. Or more, I don't know who the hell to count anymore.

Linnis...my oldest...I'm a little worried about her. She's half Ocampan.

::stares, trying to tell whether that's supposed to be the lead in to a joke::

::apparently not::

::pulls at memory::

Ocampa. Telepathic species, highly eccentric biophysical traits...

Yeah, yeah, those are pain in the ass, but dealable. What I'm worried about is the deal breaker.

::pushes past sudden knot in pit of stomach as memories rise::

The Ocampan lifespan as we know it is nine years. There have been a few who made it into the teens, thanks to extraordinary telepathic efforts. Kes...Linnis' mother...made it to ten. We tried everything we could to give her more time, but it was just beyond our resources and knowledge.

...we still don't know much more than we did then, I'm afraid. Anything you could tell our EMH, and recent research you think might help...

::listens, attempting to draw the actual question out of his anxious rambling::

Yes, I remember reading the reports Voyager sent back.

::finally catches his intent, pressing hand back to head again::

The average Ocampan life span is nine years. Linnis is half Ocampan, and they seem to have some very strong genes.

She's...what, thirteen, with any possible telepathic talents virtually undeveloped?

It sounds like it's time, Tom.
