Here is an article I wrote this past weekend for No Pink Spandex. Thanks to Leyann for helping with editing. I feel good about the positive comments this is receiving.
Great article, but there's one too many commas. XD j/k. Great job!
Haha, I wish I had had your starstruck section before I met them at ACEN last year. I decided last second to go up to the table, and I wasn't really prepared, so I was a bit of a bubbly mess with Karen Ashely. ^_^; I got my senses about me with the other two though (JDF wasn't there yet).
I very much agree with t_antares. This applies to every celeb. Well said! I like horror cons because they are so low key and it's easy to mingle in social settings. My favorite experience was sitting in a bar having Guinness with Michael Berryman and we were talking about stereo equipment for a good hour. :) It's true--they don't want to talk about their jobs if they don't have to!
I don't even want to tell you what a freak I became when I met the singer of my favorite band though. I think I scared him. I was...unprepared for how starstruck I became. *embarrassed*
I think we are all allowed to turn into a pile of goo because of being starstruck at least once! I know if I got to meet someone like Leonard Nimoy or William Shatner, I would probably act VERY starstruck.
I think celebs are aware that sometimes people freak out a bit. There's a difference, imo, between people who don't recognize boundaries, and those who just have a 8D;;;; moment. Celebs can tell and are generally forgiving with people who get flustered.
Definitely though they prefer to have a regular, human conversation, lol. With just a dash of idolatry. ^_~
