War. War never changes...

So last night was the main event so to speak. The midnight release of Fallout 3 at Best Buy. There was only 12 Best Buys across the whole nation that were having this, and luckily the one where I pre-ordered the game in Downer's Grove was one of the locations. I read some new on the Bethesda forums that the Chicago location actually canceled their ( Read more... )

The one in Chicago probably canceled the midnight opening because it's not a game that really got a bunch of preorders. We had to do a midnight opening for it (because our DM is a pain in the ass) and had under 40 orders for it. Usually we only do midnights for games that have 150+ orders.

Well that's weird, I mean why would the makers of the game work out midnight releases with only 12 Best Buys in the country and for one of them to just cancel? You would think they would choose the stores with the most pre-orders. There were a TON of people waiting in line after Leyann and I got out of there.

Yeah, but only about a third or a fourth of the people that we saw at the Halo 3 midnight launch.

That white line is totally visible. I wouldn't need the red circle to show it.

I'm calling shenanigans. Glad you had a good time.

LoL! I'm just covering my bases. Doing eBay auctions for a living, I'm used to idiots saying "UM WHY DID THIS COME DAMAGED?!" and meanwhile the auction mentions the damage AND shows multiple photos.

On eBay, assuming people are smart and observant results in you getting unwarranted negative feedback. -_-;;

eBay has always been too much of a monster for me. Give me half.com or amazon. I don't need the stress of a bidding war - I just want my stuff! But good call on the base covering - negative feedback could kill a person, I bet.

That's part of the reason why eBay is changing up a lot of their policies... buyers don't want to wait a week for an auction to end. Amazon is their biggest competitor right now and eBay is tanking, so they're giving perks to people who sell things as "Buy-it-Now" listings instead of auctions.

Somehow, the thought of Leyann stuffing puppets in her purse makes me giggle.

I'm amused by the most random things.

If my gaming schedule goes as planned, I can hopefully start Fallout 3 sometime in January. There are too many damn games to play and finish!

And you really need to read this book: Dies The Fire. It's the first book in one of the best (if not The Best) alternate history series ever written. It's amazingly well written, exciting, interesting and...a bit thought provoking.

Interesting, I will check that book out. Sounds like the start of a great series.

I hear you on the games front, way too much, too soon.
