Marlena is fairly sure this is an ambush.
The fact that the Empire insignia hasn't been for the last forty metres of corridor isn't registering with her. It's the fact that it's too quiet - alpha shift is ending in less than five minutes and these halls should be full of people running to get to their posts on time. Not this empty hum of the engines, this pregnant silence that... no. It's not her turn to die yet. There's too much she hasn't accomplished.
Footsteps? Is someone approaching? It doesn't sound like more than one person. Heavy-footed, not even attempting for stealth. Who would be so brash? Or so foolish? Not Mr. Spock. It couldn't be Chekov again... he and Sulu have both surely learned their lesson by now.
No matter. The Lieutenant will be prepared to deal with whoever is around that corner.
