[Bones - the McCoy hailing from Stardate 2258.50 - can be found in the sickbay today. Not an unusual sight considering his chosen profession, but there is a minor difference; he is the patient instead of the doctor and is sprawled over one of the beds, currently out for the count although there are tell tale signs of stirring

[Kirk is standing next to the bed, medical PADD in his hand. He is going down the check list.]

Well, good news. You're not going to die.

[McCoy does not even bother to remove his hand and lies there listlessly as he feels Jim hovering over him. He can see that smirk regardless of opening his eyes or not.]

You took a nasty blow to the neck. I gotta admit, I thought doctors had better care of their tools.

I was distracted. Left my damn satchel on the bar.

[paradaxical]

[Jadzia's been checking up on him periodically and has sat with him over the last hour. She presents him with a cup of water in case he's dehydrated.]

You can kill me later. But for now, just rest.

[hippocraticly]

[Ah, the one responsible for his latest predicament. McCoy blinks at her drowsily from beneath his fingers as he shifts on the sickbay bed, but he does not reply to her yet. His pride took a battering with what she did and he sulks in stone-faced silence.]

So, you're just going to sulk? No cussing at me? I probably deserve a few choice words.

... Southern Gentlemen should never cuss at a lady. Even if they deserve it.

[ after speaking with an alternate version of kirk and calming his nerves with a nice, hot cup of earl gray, picard has resolved to wandering the starbase--perhaps in search of his own crew or those from his point in time, but mostly just to survey his surroundings and get a better feel for what seems to be his new, temporary residence. thus, he's wandered into sickbay ]

Hmm.

Is there no physician in attendance? Odd.

[hippocraticly]

[McCoy shifts and sits up.]

You're looking at him.

[hunthiswhale]

[ if he's startled to see who it is, he doesn't show it. after all, it makes sense, after speaking with kirk ]

Doctor Leonard McCoy, I presume?

[hippocraticly]

[McCoy rubs the side of his neck wearily.]

One of them, yeah.

[thirdhost]

[ emony's standing there, hovering over him when he stirs. she looks worried, but despite that, says only-- ]

Good morning.

[hippocraticly]

[McCoy looks surprised to see her looking over him and offers a small smile.]

Don't know about the good bit, but thanks.

[ emony shrugs, that same gentle look she always wears still in place, unwavering ]

It seemed appropriate and something tells me that you don't need to hear me ask the same questions or make the same remarks others already have.

[ the tribbles were cute at first - at first being about one day before he started seeing them everywhere and reluctantly martyred himself to tribble cleanup duty. he's got three more in his arms ready to be confined to sickbay. he's so busy trying to tune out their damn cooing that he doesn't even notice his .50 counterpart on one of the beds until he's heading back out - then he pauses, unsure whether to be amused or embarrassed. ]

What the hell happened to you?

[hippocraticly]

[McCoy emits a long-suffering groan when the noisy, but admittedly tranquil-sounding, cooing from new tribbles reaches his ears and he rolls onto his side. He wonders idly why all the Bones on the Starbase got stuck with clean up duty before he answers with a lazy gesture at his neck.]

Got stabbed in the neck with my own damn hypospray.

[sickbay]

[ he quickly runs through a list of all the people stupid enough to knock out one of the few doctors on the starbase, and on the very top of it is of course: ]
