Jadzia Dax sits at a table in the mess hall, which sort of resembles the Replimat back on Deep Space 9 and yet isn't. Still, thanks to the technology granted to the starbase, she is still able to enjoy the raktijinos she drank on the station. She appears deep in thought, calling up the research data on her PADD...]

[Kirk had sort of stumbled into the area while looking around for something else. He eyes the structure of the area... it certainly isn't what the Enterprise's mess hall looks like. Then again none of the mess halls seemed to that he had found.

Though then he spots Jadzia. He glances at the table to see she has her own PADD and is rather busy. Glancing behind him and around him and seeing no one else there? He supposes he'll settle by asking her. He carefully sneaks up behind her and then leans over her, pretending like he's reading over her shoulder.]

Hard at work, Commander?

[She doesn't jump, but she does tilt her head to look at him. Looming over her, and his tone is more playful than she's used to. Unless it's another Kirk. Which gives her pause. But she never told any other Kirk what her name or rank was. She relaxes.]

Captain.

[She adopts an equally playful tone, and smirks at his remark.]

Just some light reading on temporal disturbances and tachyon fields, sir.

[Oh you can tell it's that one. While there is no more blood, he's got a pretty good bruised face as well as a few cuts. Bones knows how to mess someone up if given the chance. Though he's taken to walking around in the black undershirt until he finds a replacement for his golden one.]

I'm not sure how that is really light reading.

[It's a bit obvious he's trying to be in a better mood. But at least he is trying.]

[She quips, pleased that his mood seems to be lighter. A+ for effort. And she has to admit that the black undershirt really enhances the vivid blue of his eyes. She indicates the empty seat opposite her.]

Will you join me? I can multi-task...

[Her smirk deepens.]

[ ezri is wandering the starbase, surveying the people and taking note of how they're coping, offering an ear or advice as needed per her duties as a counseling officer. she's got a raktijino in hand that she's currently wrinkling her nose at ]

Why did I order this? I hate these!

[ she sets it down on a table, sighing ]

Just when you think you've got a hold on those urges, you go and get something that makes your taste buds hate you.

[ turning, she looks over to the officer sitting at another table--and freezes, eyes wide ]

[Jadzia glances up from her PADD at the woman complaining about her choice of drink nearby. Then her eyes widen in recognition of the fact that she appears to be a trill. One she doesn't actually know. Last time she checked there was only one other trill on the station besides versions of herself and Emony. Ezri. Her future host. She attempts to break the tension of the moment...]

Just wait until you start getting a craving for steamed asna or klingon bahgol.

[ ezri presses her lips together, thinning them out as she tries to come to grips with seeing her past self up close and in person. she wasn't joined like most hosts, didn't receive the right training, is still getting grips on what it means to be joined... ]

Already got those covered in the mix of crazy urges I feel from time to time.

[She smiles gently]

It does take some adjusting.

[And then, because there's a big white elephant standing in the middle of the room as Benjamin would say, she indicates to Ezri that she's welcome to join her table.]
