LOL I know what you mean. I hate when this happens.

what's horrible is subconsciously i start to not like the group as much anymore, which is extremely petty and super ridiculous.

like, regina spektor? by the time they started playing her on the radio, our love affair was pretty much obsolete.

buhhhh. dumb.

Oh I totally understand. Like I have a few friends from highschool who used to pay out on mine and my friend's music taste and suddenly they are now into our music after a good 2 and a half years. And now they try to talk to me about indie music and I'm like GTFO!

I think it's all good with Regina Spektor though, she isn't too overly popular in Australia =)

hahahaha.
"have you heard of suchandsuch? i really think you might like them. i've been into them for awhile now, but you might still think they're neat"
"uhm. IIII told YOU about them... three years ago...."
hahaha that happens to me ALLTHETIME.

she's way popular here in america.

LOL. I hate when that happens too! And then i hate myself for hating it. I spend so much time promoting my favourite bands to everyone but then when people actually start listening to them I hate it.

But I honestly don't think Grizzly Bear will ever be huge.

right?? yah. i make everyone i know listen to my favorite "unknown" artists. and i'm exactly the same. exaccctly.
drives me insane. "i guess i just wanted to show you how cool MY music taste is? i didn't realllllly want you to like them, world"

it's not even "huge" i just don't like being able to mention a bands name at a party and have a large majority of the people know who i'm talking about! no! bad!

whatever. this is my "bitchy" "greedy" "stuckup" music me. normally i'm very lax about my music - love when i find people who love the same stuff as me.

hahaha. while we're talking about this sort of thing though - after you mentioned animal collective, i started listening to them again for the first time in like.... a year? and i like them so much more now than i did when i last heard them. so... thanks :D haha

[i'm sure you do, but if you don't know who department of eagles is, you ought to check them outttt]

I'm EXACTLY like that! I always go "Have you heard of this band called (insert my newest music crush)? They are really great" And then I want them all to go "no, I don't think so" except maybe the one random nerdy dude in the corner who I will then proceed to geek with about that band and others. Because I'm just too important to talk to the people who don't know who they are even though I only heard of them that same day.

I hate people who are like that but I just enjoy doing it too damn much. Besides it doesn't count when it's me :D

I have heard of Department of Eagles but not that much by them. I will check them out now!

hahahaha. oh no. when i made that animal collective comment, i had someone else i mind. how embarrassing... hahaha.

right?! i always figure that's how i'll find my soulmate. i'll mention some obscure band or movie i'm super into, and he'd be like "i love that/them" <333
hahah "you don't know who they are?? my GOSH i've known about them for HOURS" haha.

no, it doesn't count when it's me either.

but okay now that i know who i'm talking to [gollygosh] - i've been listening to bombay bicycle club like whoa!

if you like grizzly bear, you'll like department of eagles. the singer in doe is in grizzly bear, and sings some songs in the new grizzly album. yuss yuss.

Yeah..you're lame.

Though I do feel a tinge now that Apacolyptica is getting popular because I know there will come a day when my obscure underground band will have people say things like, "Ughh...I'm so sick of hearing them." I'm trying to convince myself that I'm happy that people will finally know what I am talking about when I tell the neoclassical metal is my favorite genre of music.

I got to see them with Metallica! It was really really good! And they played all of their own stuff, not the mainstream crap you hear on the radio. not that I don't care is crap... but it's becoming too famous and people are already tired of hearing it. It sucks.

But if you get the chance, you should go see them.

Craziest mosh pit of my life. It was weird. XD
