zap! thwack! and yum

I'm in high spirits today, thanks to a tiring but oh-so-entertaining weekend. Saturday brought with it an entirely new pleasure, laser tag! The Box Hill Dark Zone manages to hide four levels of darkened ramps, vantage points, blind corners and other exciting geography in what I swear is only a two story building. And they have pizza! Marvelous.

Oh wow! Hazlenuts *and* truffles! That rocks!

If only I was in a place permanent (and could keep my own tree alive) enough...

I have a weird desire to try paintball/laserlight, too. I'm completely torn by both wanting to do it, and abhorring it.

It was heaps of fun. I loved the mix of ages, and everyone played nicely together!

I did laser tag there a coupla months ago. There were only a handful of us and we were slaughtered by a big bunch of teenagers. :)

Ha - even defeat can be fun! We had a really mixed group all round. My scores put me in the middle third of the final rankings, but now I have a much better idea of what the good strategies are.

*plots fiendishly for next time*

I love Dark Zone! I've been to the Box Hill one several times, and it's got a great layout. For some reason I always become really uncharacteristically competitive during the game... unlike during paintball, where I tend to run off and hide.

Oh yes, I thought the layout was brilliant. I really couldn't work out how they managed to fit it all into the building.

I've nver tried paintball - does it sting if you get hit? I had the adrenalin pumping from the first few seconds onwards, loved every second of it.

I've been paintballing once, and I'm never going again. :) It does hurt, especially if it's in close range - ie within 20/30 metres - and the noise is just so loud, like a real gunshot. Those things are probably the most compelling for guys, but they just scare me. It was exactly like Dark Zone, but with the threat of real pain.

It's probably worth going once, though. Sounds cool when you tell people.

Hmmm. No, I think with the noise and the pain that paintballing might not be for me. I'm a bit wimpy when it comes to those sort of negative physical consequences!!

Laser tag has the fear-of-pain element removed, so we're just free to enjoy!! I'll stick with that, I think. :-)

I did paintballing years ago in Moama. I remember I had a bruise on my hand that lasted a month.

Booooo to bruises! Definitely, DEFINITELY I'm going to stick with laser tag. Adrenalin, excitement, and no pain!
