Geeky stuff about archery

Jul 20, 2009 18:06

I imagine that lots of engineers would like archery. It's all about repeatable processes, getting that perfect draw and release that's exactly the same each time and gets your arrows in just the right place. I'm still at the stage though were it isn't automatic at all yet, and I'm still running that mental check list in my head, "left hand, ( Read more... )

serenity, zen, archery

This whole post is filled with Zen. I'm feeling the urge... not to make an enemy of you within 100 paces.

Awwwwwww, that's so sweet! :-)

Come along one day and shoot pointy things at distant targets. You know you want to! It'll be *awesome*.

I'm finding this really fascinating - if you need an external motivator to keep writing about archery, use me :D.

I will definitely remember. I've also stolen your recipe for fragrant pork and aubergines so I shall report back at some stage on how that went as well!

I may just have to write in a character called Treefern who is an archer into the neglected epic...

Oh good! Let me know if you do any tweaks to it.

That sounds pretty cool but you shouldn't let software engineers try it. We're all about agile processes, stuffing things up and discovering what we should have done in retrospect.

Sure, we would eventually end up with a 5cm spread at 30m, but we would probably be pincushioning a car instead of a target.

Ha - yes, it's difficult to go back and patch holes in metal. I suppose the degree of regret though would depend on the vintage of the car... Perhaps laptops that had been loaded with insufficient RAM would be a suitable alternative?

Oooooh! Yes! And every now and then I have an urge to shoot an arrow through one of the displays of those people who use dual flat screen displays for their computers.

This is, however, only out of UTTER JEALOUSY.
