interview with Iain M Banks on writing / plots / characters etc

As November inches closer I find I'm running short on time for plotting my nanowrimo effort (let alone study, which is *really* what I should be doing right now), but here is a pdf (largish) of an interview with Iain M Banks , who talks about plots, the writing process, characters etc.

Enjoy. When I get too bogged down in other things I like to read good material about the process of writing, so feel free to bounce back anything interesting that you may come across :-)

Interesting stuff. It sounds like he goes on a three month nanowrimoesque binge and rests for the other nine. Tis the life!

Ha. Yes, a nano-style binge but with lots of planning and thinking behind it.... which is what I really aspire to (sorry: "to which I really aspire"). I am, however, still somewhat missing the mark in the plotting department -- as some of you out there know very well!

Ah well. *Insert wry grin here, together with positive affirmations about ploting skills getting better and better every day.*
