Job update: death.

Today was the first patient death I've had since I started working for hospice. I wish I had something truly poignant to say, but I don't. I am sad, but I'm not at all devastated. I suspect, unless a patient is so flagrantly suffering that death is a clear escape, I will find each death sad

Honestly, I'm not surprised. I was a bit worried myself about doing rape crisis work, but it turns out that my crisis management mode is emotionally separate enough that it just doesn't hit the same centers. (hardest things I've had to deal with involved kids; that'll crack the shell, yeah)
