I like your take on this scene. If by "like" you mean "am incredibly crushed by". Especially this line: "the only people in the world who might notice his passing are dying right alongside him". OH MUCH, BABY. ;-;

Damn, this is good, and sad, and the last line just 'bout made me get teary again 'coz of the entire final episode. Perfect for the scene, and just

lovely, in a sad, angsty way.
