An intriguing backstory you've set up to tell us how Much came to live at Locksley! I'd love to know why he was headed to York and where he's actually from... so many possibilities!

man behind him smelled really really bad

I can picture very clearly the look on Much's face, the cute way he scrunches up his nose!!

He had thick dark hair, dark stubble and was carrying what to Much's eyes looked like half a tree.

I laughed at the 'half a tree' description when I beta'd and I laughed at it on the 2nd and 3rd reads, too. LOL! hmm...who could this be? (yay for John & Roy!!)

Thornton doesn't seem too generous. I'm glad that the servant girls and/or Robin managed to keep poor Much around!!

Great fic!

Thanks!

The original thought was "Hmm.. Much said he'd been Robin's servant 10 years - that's about the same time John must have been outlawed... What if they met?"

Much has an adorable scrunchy nose... and I think Thornton is probably quite generous - he could just have shut the door - maybe he was more concerned for Much's well-being if Robin found him and thought he was a new toy? ;)

The last thing we need is him thinking he's got a new playmate...

I can so imagine Much being a bit like a puppy to Robin. In a good way.

Also I am a sucker for backstory, and this is great!

Am now picturing Robin asking Thornton, "Can we keep him? Pleeeease!!!"

Thanks!

Joining in on the Robin's new playmate discussion...it does beg the question of whether he made a habit of it. That is to say, may be Robin had a habit of bringing home stray playmates like other children collect pets. Maybe Much is the only one who survived? 0.0

I cannot tell you how much in love with this idea I am...

Thornton: (sighing) "Please try not to break this one, Master Robin..."

You could almost reinterpret the entire gang using this theory, stray dogs that they were...

Awww, poor young Much! Love the last line, in particular, and the description of Little John. "He had thick dark hair, dark stubble and was carrying what to Much's eyes looked like half a tree."
