*hugs you to teeny tiny pieces for posting something*

This is very evocative - and also very poetic. Excellent use of language.

And you're right - John was not a happy bunny at that point.

Thanks so much...I was trying to decide whether it was crap or not! I have spent a lot of time in the desert, so I'm glad to know I can still remember what it's like. (Not bein' funny, but I didn't even have to use a thesaurus. Yay, me.)

As I said in the author's note, I originally thought I was going to write about Robin's feelings about the desert/Acre, but he did not reach this state until after Marian's death. I think John was the angriest at this point, for a variety of reasons.

Poor John... you can imagine how much he missed Sherwood while his body was succumbing to the desert. Thank goodness Carter showed up!

And I won't tell you that WYG just about fainted when she saw your post to TLJR. You made her day! Oh waittaminute...I guess I told you didn't I?

Lovely drabble.

You both recall that I did post another entry in this comm that was over six times longer than a drabble, right? Right?

I do think, contrary to many, that John is a very interesting character to write. I can relate, and it's not just an age thing. We're both incredibly good-looking, too. ;)

I certainly haven't forgotten! You're considered a regular round these parts!

We're both incredibly good-looking, too.
And smart - don't forget smart. ;)

I love it when readers add multiple layers of interpretation to my writing. It makes me seem so deep. (*thanks you from the shallow end of the pool*)

It is ironic that John wished for death so many times, and when it seemingly came, he was so angry. It was NOT as he had pictured it at all, and completely involuntary!

Good point! I thought that during 3x03 when they're about to get burned (presumably for weighing the same as a duck) John's the only one who struggles - like he really doesn't want to go out that way.

I think he's still fine with going out fighting (we never really get the impression he's over the death wish and there's nothing new added to his character in S3) but he would hate to have a powerless death.

Ooh, I can imagine that John was not happy in a big way by this point.

Excellent description, I might add (given that it is hot enough to fry eggs on the footpath right now, this feels incredibly real to me)

Thank you. I enjoyed thinking about heat at this point. The Northern Hemisphere is in desperate need of it.

So, when can we expect a drabble answering the prompt "snow" from our friends in the Southern Hemi? (It does help to get away mentally...if only for a moment or two.)
