Summary: Even though they were all together, they were all bound separately; each man or woman with only their own thoughts about the end. Set in 2x13 when the outlaws were staked in the desert with Marian. You know...while the desert was "deciding."
A/N: Written for rh_intercomm , based on the prompt "Acre." When I started writing this, I thought it was about Robin, but then I realized there was one who was probably more angry than remorseful or self-pitying. In fact, he was pretty ticked off.
The back of his neck burned. The glaring sun bounced off sand and raked across his retinas. The heat seared his flesh and baked his body. Sweat evaporated before he realized it was there. Thirst was a constant companion.
The light of the desert played tricks on a man. In the dense forest of home, sunlight illuminated the dark corners. Here, it created contrasts. The shadows were darker and the sunlight blinded, making one vulnerable. There was no room for gray.
He felt the scorching sand and blistering sun bearing down upon his body, but inside his blood ran cold.
