when I read the line, And here's hoping young Master Locksley has behaved himself as well as I think he has! , I automatically wondered why she wasn't giving Marian any choice in the matter

Good grief! You're absolutely right and I'm completely stunned I didn't even notice that! I think it's because I was still in the mindset of Matilda assuming that if Guy had anything to do with Marian no longer being a maid it would probably not have been her choice but I'm doing both Marian and Robin a huge disservice with that remark

Well revealing himself to Matilda anyway - the public don't get to see that side of him.
