If hard pressed, I'd say Annie Hall is my favorite film. Period. But for sake of discussion, I always toss it out the window and say that "Crimes and Misdemeanors" is his best.
Not only was this a jarring film for Woody fans at the time, but think about the kind of writing that is in this one. Marshal McCluan jokes!? That just seems like it would be obscure even at the time of its release.
