I was telling a friend about this vid, and realized I hadn't linked it here yet.

It's a Life on Mars vid, set to "Back There Someday". Yes, it's a song by the Muppets. Yes, I KNOW, but it WORKS. It's beautiful and melancholy, and it's so perfect for the show, the way the meaning of the lyrics change as the video goes on ( Read more... )

I am not a fan of vids in general, but wow, that was five kinds of amazing. Gave me chills.

I MISS MY SHOW!

Isn't it perfect? I've never been so sad that a show was over, and that video just sort of encapsulates the whole..."feel" of it.

And re Lost, I have nothing to say except *hugs* for you and *kicks* for your TV.

Do you know if it's on DVD here? Although being a UK show, it probably costs a zillion dollars like Doctor Who does. Why do they do that to us when we WANT to give them money? Just... not so much!

Thanks. The interwebs will save me tomorrow. I hope.

::sigh::

It is, but it's $40.00-$45.00 per season. (At least at Best Buy). A little steep for eight eps, but well worth it, if/when you can afford it. I've only been able to get S1 so far. :(

Isn't that great?

nancyblackett did a response vid with the same song (different version, though) which I like even better: Back There Someday.

Oh, thanks! I'm in the middle of White Collar right now, but I'll watch it as soon as I'm done. I love seeing different versions of things, and seeing how people interpret the same lyrics in different ways.

This is by our own lovely culf who has done some amazing vids for LoM including the recent There Ain't No Rest for The Wicked, for the LoM villains.

I also quite recently recced Nancy Blackett's LoM vid edited to a different version of this same song.

There's also Culf's brilliant "Jump In" her ode to 70s coppers, mixing LoM with Pros (yes!) and Starsky and Hutch. Look for the Gene "metaphor" edit, it gets me every time:

Am busy White Collar-ing! But I'll watch as soon as that's over. Iz just mentioned the other version of this one too; I can't believe there are two versions of it and I've missed them both until just a few days ago. There's so much stuff I'm still finding in this fandom!

Well, here's Culf's Aint No Rest for the Wicked too, just in case you missed it:

I've managed to get two episodes behind on White Collar so we're recording the one that's playing right now. *g*

Heh! Told you it was good...glad to see so many other people think to too. :)

Btw, I notice you commented about odessie's Be a Man fanvid, which I seem to have lost when I updated to my new computer...any chance you've still got a hard copy floating around somewhere? Youtube says the vid was yanked by the original user. ;_;

Aww, that was so nice. Gave me chills!

It really is the most kickass series ending ever, I think.

I don't think I've ever seen something so right, but yet somehow so melancholy. The end of Babylon 5 comes close--not the "5 zillion years in the future" end, but where they're turning off the lights on the station.
