This is supposed to go into a longer story. But it's a different tone from the rest of it, and I don't know if it's going to fit, and I don't know when (or if) that story'll get done anyway.

So, have a snippet! Please note that I originally borrowed Harry from ariastar, but he's gone his own way since then and she is not responsible for anything found ( Read more... )

a;sldkfjSO MUCH LOVE for this. I love it when people play with the Gallifreyan language anyway, but oh, this is gorgeous and I can feel what it costs the Doctor. And I love the detail of, as if the Doctor has never used the language in this body. And that last line is just perfect.

YAY! *twirls you* I wasn't sure if you'd like it, 'cause I know you're a Master fan. *g*

I'm a Master fan, but it's very likely that I could be a Harry fan, too.

*brightens up* Really? Want another snippet, then?

This one's from earlier on, when the Master's memories have come back, but not his...essence, I guess you'd call it, so Harry's still human and not actually insane. (I'll figure out how and why that happens later...) He hasn't told the Doctor yet that he remembers anything, because the Doctor wants the Master back, and at this stage, withholding that from him is the only way he can think of to hurt the Doctor. (Yes, he is twelve, and passive-aggressive. And very confused.)

************

The problem, he decides later, slamming his bedroom door much harder than necessary, is that he has such open access to Harry's memories, Harry's likes and dislikes, that he made the mistake of thinking that Harry was simple. Controllable. Like a program that would run predictably every time, without him having to pay conscious attention.

Even if that had been true, he probably wouldn't have thought to write a subroutine that specifies Do not kiss the Doctor. Ever. Even if he's wearing the glasses ( ... )

This is SO COOL. I love the importance of Names and the power of language, and the relationship here is just seething with... issues and intimacy.
