I'm not going to comment on your spec because that would be cheating except to say that there is Fic for everything you mentioned. And then some.
The psychopath is Jayne (with a "y") and the married couple, Wash and Zoe are just awesome. I want to be Zoe when I grow up, sirously. She rocks hardcore and looks effing awesome in tight pants and boots. Plus she can work a gun like woah. (She's my very first "I think I'd go gay for that" girlcrush AND I WOULD!)
Of course, when you're done you have to watch "Serenity" which is even MORE AWESOME and I was lucky enough to see at one of the fan pre-screenings when it was still a rough cut.
Oh, Firefly - with your ass-kicking and snappy dialogue - you were too pretty to die so young.
I have seen some very lovely Jack Harkness/Malcolm Reynolds, though.
Do you still have the link? I was going to ask if anybody knew of this, but I figured there wouldn't be any other nuts out there like me, who can't help but picture Jack with every pretty guy (or gal) we come across. I'm still hoping that somebody, somewhere, has Jack/Fraser (from Due South).
(Their relationship bothers Wash more than he lets on.) I kinda figured that when Wash was snarking about asking Mal for time off. "Be sure and call him 'Sir', he likes that."
Jayne (hired muscle) is stupid, but he gets his moments. I almost fell over laughing after Mal ordered him away from the table, and Simon said, "What do you pay him for? What's his job?" and Mal said, "Public relations." Okay, that's not a Jayne moment, but it was great anyway

Re: Mal and Inara--I dunno. I think Mal is more old fashioned than he lets on with regard to Inara's profession. But I really doubt it has anything to do with religion, and more to do with the fact that he sekritly wants her all for himself. 'Course, that might change at any time.
Kaylee may be a little sister, but she's still a grown woman. ;)
Though I've never read any, I know that Simon/River space-cest exists. It squicks me out, too.
You know, there are hints of Book's pre-church life that are more interesting than anything I've seen on the show. Which is sad, because I'll never know what brought him to that path in life.
So glad you're enjoying it. But you're totally making me want to rewatch. :D
I *loved* how Sally and Larry met. "Pants?" (::shakes head, smiles::) Awesome.
FIREFLY! Yaaay. This show has a lot for you, as you have already figured out.
is he religious and doesn't want to be attracted to what he (rudely) termed a "whore"? I think he used to be, but now he's just damaged. He used to be an idealist about a lot of things, but now he's trying to survive and take care of the people in his "family." I love how they can give hints at backstory without saying hardly anything at all. Of course, I wish there had been more time to get into backstory (and everything else) more thoroughly

One of the songs on your TW soundtrack reminds me very strongly of Simon and River (in the brother/sister way, not the 'cesty way.) It was "Mercury", but I don't remember if that's the song name or the band name? It had the cowboy-sound to it and everything. And it was about a girl who's not really all there (it sounded like; have only listened once). And the lyrics "She's all right with me" can be taken as "She's safe with me" instead of "I like her just the way she is".
Yeah, I'm odd. I've watched one ep and already I'm seeing things in songs. o_O

I'd go all out for Mal/Zoe, except that she's married (to a lovable geek) and appears to be fairly happy about it.
Sunny loaned me "Serenity" too, so yay! *hearts Sunny*

There have been a couple. This recent one stands out and is my favorite: http://community.livejournal.com/vintagemilitary/7082.html
Book sort of bores me; I'm so over the "naive religious person can't deal with the real world" thing.
Oh, keep watching. There's more to him that that. (One of the mysteries that was never sufficiently explained, IMO.)

You're the second person to warn me about her. Does she get all hot and seduce Simon? I can go for that.
NO 'CEST PLZ. DO NOT WANT.
I need a Firefly icon now.

Loved the song, BTW.
